Statement on the Budget Reconciliation Package: Ag leaders on Justice for Black Farmers

“It’s great to see provisions on socially disadvantaged farmers in the House Ag Committee section on the Budget Reconciliation Act that was passed earlier this month. With thanks to Senator Warnock and Chairman Scott, the policies on loan repayment and resources to build capacity will help Black farmers and other socially disadvantaged farmers recover from the immediate impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Black farmers have been largely shut out of recovery programs to this point, as they have over the past decades, and these provisions will be important to begin addressing many of the challenges faced by black farmers historically and give them a fair chance at anchoring their communities as well as being an even more important part of the rural economy.” - ED Cornelius Blanding FSC/LAF
